Environmental Officer

Main duties & responsibilities:

The Environmental Officer will report to the Managing Director of the company and have the following main duties & responsibilities:

  • Conduct environmental impact, risk and opportunity (IRO) assessments using established frameworks and methodologies i.e. EFRAG’s ESRS implementation guidance

  • Develop clients’ environmental strategies and plans to assist them in achieving their environmental objectives in the short, medium and long-term using specific KPI’s from established frameworks i.e. EFRAG’s ESRS’s.

  • Assist clients in managing their environmental impacts and mitigate environmental risks through the development of appropriate due diligence processes throughout their operations and value chains.

  • Use Climate Change Scenarios (CCS) to plan for different environmental impacts & risks according to their severity and frequency embedding resilience in clients’ organizational structure and procedures

  • Consult clients on a range of environmental issues such as energy, water and waste management, materials use and biodiversity protection.

  • Advise clients on issues related to circular economy and circular Business Model Transformation

  • Prepare presentations for the purpose of various sustainability related training programs in Greek and English

  • Deliver training programs on the latest environmental legislations and assist clients in comprehending their obligations within this stringent regulatory environment helping them to comply and add value to their organizations

  • Advise clients on how to best collect & analyse environmental disclosures for their annual ESG related reports in accordance with International and European Reporting Standards such as the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), IFRS Sustainability, Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) in collaboration with clients’ ESG teams

  • Conduct Double Materiality Assessments (DMA) through stakeholder engagement using various methodologies such as online surveys, video call interviews, workshops or focus groups in accordance with established frameworks such as the ESRS DMA Implementation Guidance

  • Assist clients in their transition journeys by exploring decarbonization strategies and implementing Net Zero programs through the use of global standards and protocols (e.g ISO 14064-1:2018 and GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard), with the quantification and reporting of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals.

  • Guide clients through the design, development, management, reporting and verification of their organization's GHG inventory in a relevant, complete, consistent, and accurate way.

  • Continuously strive to upskill and stay up to date with developments at a European and International level in the field of Sustainability in general and more specifically environmental regulations and directives as well as best practices, frameworks and initiatives.

  • Develop strong professional relationships and maintain a network of related stakeholders

  • Conduct annual benchmarking of environmental Indices in the various industries Grow’s clients operate in, including identification of market best practices and opportunities for continued improvements/ enhancements

  • Prepare presentations, technical and financial proposals for the purpose of business development in Greek & English

  • Contribute in knowledge sharing in the field of Sustainability by creating relevant content such as writing articles, interviews and blog posts for the company website and social media pages.

Candidate Profile:

We are seeking a candidate with following qualifications and skills:

  • Degree in Environmental Studies (i.e. Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering)

  • At least 2 years work experience in environmental consulting

  • Passion for and understanding of ESG issues and trends, as well as industry best practices and frameworks relating to sustainability and environmental impact  

  • Excellent writing and verbal presentation skills, with the ability to distill and communicate complex details and data into consumable insights

  • Exceptional project management, multi-tasking and organizational skills, including attention to detail

  • Strong executive presence, with the ability to present to senior management and external stakeholders

  • Ability to excel in a high-performance, professional environment, while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines

  • Strong initiative, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to think innovatively and creatively

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with others, and proactively cultivate relationships with a diverse range of external partners

  • In-depth use of data analytics

  • Ability to be hands on and work independently but also in teams

  • Ability and willingness to work to flexible schedules and commit the time required to get the job done

  • Proactiveness

 

Language Skills: Fluency in Greek & English

Job Dimensions: Global client base with limited travel requirements
